(March 27, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Gun Violence Suppression Team has made an arrest in its investigation into a nonfatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in northwest Aurora.

Winston Ical-Xol, 19, was arrested Thursday during the execution of a search warrant at his Denver home. The Denver Police Department SWAT Team assisted Aurora police investigators with the warrant, which also resulted in the recovery of a firearm. Ical-Xol faces charges of attempted first-degree murder after deliberation in Adams District Court.

“Thursday’s arrest reflects the strength of collaboration between our officers and the community,” said Gun Violence Suppression Team Sgt. Michael Tilton. “With the assistance of Colfax Avenue businesses that provided critical video evidence, along with community members who came forward with tips, we were able to quickly identify and remove a dangerous suspect from our streets.”

The arrest stems from about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, March 15, when North District patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 9600 block of East Colfax Avenue. The investigation revealed a woman was sitting at a bus stop when a vehicle pulled up and the front seat passenger fired a gun, striking the woman in the leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
