(Dec. 15, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit announced it has made an arrest in its investigation into a homicide that occurred last month in northwest Aurora.

On Friday, members of the Aurora police Fugitive Apprehension and Narcotics Unit arrested a 17-year-old Aurora male on charges of first-degree murder after deliberation and unlawful possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The suspect is not being identified because he is a minor. He is in custody without bond pending his first appearance in court.

The charges stem from Wednesday, Nov. 19, when Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Beeler Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man with apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The man has since been identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office as 22-year-old Aurora resident Jibreel Nile.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Aurora Police Major Crime Unit Investigating 17th Avenue Fatal Shooting

(Nov. 20, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday night in northwest Aurora.

About 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Beeler Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 22-year-old man who sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The man will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Major Crime Homicide Unit.
