2027 Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment for 2027 benefits will be held from Oct.24 through Nov. 15, 2026. Open Enrollment is passive, which means your current benefit elections will automatically carry over to 2027 unless you choose to make changes.

If you would like to make changes to your benefits for 2027, you must complete and send us the 2027 Retiree Benefits Enrollment Form (coming soon) no later than Nov. 15, 2026. Completed forms may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to:

Human Resources
Aurora Municipal Center
15151 E. Alameda Parkway, Suite 3500
Aurora, CO 80012

Before Open Enrollment begins, retirees will receive communication with plan information and any applicable updates. Please ensure we have your current mailing and email address on file. If you do not receive Open Enrollment information or have questions, email [email protected] or call 303.739.7225.

Medicare

If you contributed to Social Security through your payroll taxes, coverage is most commonly available at age 65. Certain health conditions may provide earlier eligibility. If you have not contributed towards Social Security during your working career, you may still participate in Medicare by self-paying or possibly under your spouse’s coverage. Contact the Social Security office if you’re unsure of your Medicare eligibility status or how to enroll.

  • Visit socialsecurity.gov and click on Sign up for Medicare.
  • Social Security now generally requires individuals to call ahead and schedule an appointment for in-person assistance. To speak with Social Security or schedule an appointment, call 800.772.1213 (TTY: 800.325.0778).
  • Apply at your local Social Security office (Aurora Office:14280 E. Jewell Ave.)

Learn about the different parts of Medicare
Each part of Medicare serves a specific purpose and can be combined in various ways to provide comprehensive health coverage tailored to individual needs.

The city of Aurora’s prescription drug coverage has been determined to be creditable for Medicare Part D. Please review this notice and keep a copy for your records.

Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage Plan

To enroll in Kaiser’s Senior Advantage plan, please complete the enrollment form (coming soon) and email it to us.

When submitting your enrollment form, please include one of the following:

  • A scanned copy of your Medicare card showing enrollment in Part A and Part B; or
  • A verification letter from the Social Security Administration confirming the start dates of your Part A and Part B coverage.

Once we receive your completed enrollment form and documentation, we will forward your application to Kaiser to update your monthly premium.

Please note that you are still responsible for paying your Medicare Part B premium, and potentially your Part A premium, directly to the Social Security Administration.

For dependents: If you are completing the enrollment form on behalf of a retiree, each dependent should enter their own information, rather than the retiree’s information.

If you need a new post-employment health plan letter, please contact us.
