Little Alchemy
A free game available on your app store (Apple/Android) and web browsers
Nothing exists except the four elements- air, earth, fire, and water. By mixing two of these rudimentary ingredients at a time, you can create new objects from scratch. (For example: “water” + “earth” = mud.) You can discover over 500 different items! This game isn’t just about the finish line, but it’s about the journey, too! I didn’t expect to chuckle as many times as I did playing this game. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how simple yet elusive the combinations can be. You might have to think outside the box at times, but if you get stuck, Little Alchemy offers hints to help. You can play this charming, clever game at your own pace. Try making one of my favorite combinations: “bread” + “fire” makes... “toast”! - Sue
Blendoku
A free game available on your app store (Apple/Android)
Blendoku isn’t your average puzzle game: there are no numbers or letters. Instead, you get to play with colors! The level gives you a couple tiles to start with, and you’ve got to drag the remaining tiles onto the playboard. The colors must blend seamlessly to adjacent tiles. The result is an aesthetically pleasing color palette. I find the bright hues and mellow sound effects soothing. I prefer taking my time, but if you’re feeling competitive, you can solve the puzzles as fast you can and see if you can beat your own personal record. - Sue

If you’re like me, I can watch soap cutting video clips non-stop. While those videos can be uber gratifying, they result in lots of waste. Now, we can enjoy all the satisfaction of cutting soap without the waste or the mess! In this game, you get to slice colorful bars of soap into perfect, tiny cubes. The combination of crisp sound effects, smooth graphics, and just the right amount of haptic feedback brings this app to life. You might even discover some hidden prizes as you’re slicing away!

The Aurora Police Department Traffic Section is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian traffic crash that occurred in the crosswalk on East Yale Avenue at South Abilene Street.
At 9:04 a.m. a vehicle traveling northbound on East Abilene Street, just South of East Yale Avenue, made a left turn onto westbound East Yale Avenue. At the same time, a 71-year-old female was jogging, with the right-of-way, in the crosswalk on East Yale Avenue.
The driver struck the jogger, who was in the crosswalk, fatally injuring her. The driver did not flee the scene, and drugs or alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.
This fatality marks the 21st life claimed in traffic related crashes this year in Aurora. Among those 21 lives lost, eight were auto-pedestrian fatalities. In seven of the eight auto-pedestrian fatalities, the pedestrian was not lawfully crossing the road.
Drivers and pedestrians can help us prevent such tragedies by being extra vigilant when in the roadways we share. Drivers should stop, check and proceed slowly into crosswalks, and yield to pedestrians in the roadway. Pedestrians should use crosswalks and crosswalk buttons, obey pedestrian signals, and dress in a manner that illuminates you at night.
This investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing. The Aurora Police Department Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Parker Road leaving one pedestrian dead.
At around 10:30 p.m. a large white pick-up truck was traveling south on Parker Road near South Peoria Street. The pick-up truck struck a 56-year-old male who was crossing the roadway. The driver of the pick-up truck did not stop and continued driving on Parker Road towards I-225.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injures. The name of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once next of kin have been notified.
This investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash, has dash camera footage, or has any information about this incident, to please contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867) or reach out to the Aurora Police Department Traffic Unit.

1. Do you know who Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali was? Look him up! Why would Delphine describe the bumpy airplane ride as a "Cassius Clay-left-and-a-right jab"?
2. Have you ever been to California? What would you want to do if you could go?
3. Have you ever flown in a plane? How did you like it?
4. The girls' mother, Cecile, is cold and mean. Do you think she will change by the end of the book?
5. What do you think Cecile is hiding in the kitchen?
6. Remember that this novel takes place in 1968 - 52 years ago! With your parents' permission, look up some history of that year. What was going on in America? Why did the sisters feel they needed to be on their best behavior? Why were there so few other African Americans on the flight? Even the term "Negro" is a word we would not use today. What other differences have you noticed?

Shortly after midnight the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment home in the 200 block of South Joplin Circle in the Centre Pointe Neighborhood.
Upon arrival officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, he was pronounced at the scene. Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded and are actively investigating this case which is in it's early stages. No information about what lead up to this shooting or details about the suspect(s) are available at this time.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified about his death.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a REWARD of up to $2,000.
